Intra-familial child sexual abuse – an introduction for social work students

The CSA Centre estimates that 1 in 10 children and young people are sexually abused before the age of 16, so social workers are more than likely to have concerns about child sexual abuse during their careers.

It’s important that anyone beginning their career as a social worker knows how to identify and respond to concerns of child sexual abuse. Intra-familial child sexual abuse – an introduction for social work students is a one-day CPD-certified introductory online course designed for social workers completing their studies to provide an overview of the key issues to support them in identifying and responding to cases of intra familial child sexual abuse.

This course, tailored for student social workers, helps participants understand the scale and nature of child sexual abuse and how to work with children in a way that shows care and compassion, facilitates choice, control and safety, and best supports them and their wider families.
